It’s always when the cheeks seem to be internally stapled to the underside of the cheekbone that shit gets weird. How anyone would say to a surgeon “show me some pictures of recent patients” and then not run screaming upon seeing this is beyond me.

Begging the question how the hell it’s not syndicated. There is so much basic cable space looking for content, and that show’s a blast.

That scene is seared into my Gen X brain. All ANYONE was talking about at school the next day.

That’s what I thought of the very first time I saw one of his staffers claim this in an interview.

This character was closer to Crash Davis than John Dutton.  He was charismatic and confident even when somewhat full of shit (which actually sounds like the advice Crash gives to Nuke just before he leaves for the majors).

yeah but there’s a difference between “I got a shot of who my parents are” and “I have an established career because of them.”  I think the ones who stick are some combination of talented, and observed from their families what it took to be successful.

And people forget that mom is half the equation. I have a friend whose son just played for A&M in the college world series and his dad is a reasonably athletic guy and fit overall, but the mom played D-I college basketball. Guess where the kid gets it.

Stewart’s comments on his first show back nailed it. It should be embarrassing to his staffers to constantly claim that while he can’t complete a coherent sentence in public, he’s uber-energetic and whip smart behind closed doors. NO ONE believes that. If it’s true, how about a couple of confirmatory videos?

Biden’s first five minutes were so rough I wasn’t sure he was going to make it through.  From his walk out to his voice and then completely losing the thread on his first response, he looked like he was a fall in the tub away from death.

Except once elderly people begin mentally declining, they almost never snap back. His has been rapid and noticeable. He’s going to get worse, not better.

Clinton’s wounds were entirely self-inflicted. She pulled a Romney insulting a broad swath of the population and was repeatedly caught lying about what should have been trivial issues, including one that blew up in her face the week of the election. She was sunk by her own arrogance.

I think it’s because the 2020 debates were useless with the cross-bickering (normally initiated by Trump). They were so annoying as to be utterly pointless.

Even his 2020 campaign platform was that he would be a “transitional” president, and strongly implying that he would serve a single term (as a de facto extension of the Obama administration). But like too many politicians, he couldn’t help himself. Getting elected was all he had ever worked for his entire life. And so

I live in TX and have seen plenty of Beto in action.  He looks great on paper but is such a scatterbrain that he can’t answer a question without going complete walkabout on every subject except the topic at hand.  The road was cleared for him in his home Congressional district but he’s never gotten any traction on a

Plus this is a truly unique set of circumstances. A vote for Biden is almost certainly a vote for Harris, and she is deeply unpopular. The only job she’s been publicly given, the border crisis, she punted while looking to address “root causes” of mass migration for Latin and South America. She often makes less sense

Not sure about that. If Biden is replaced then the field is open to DNC vote and the party is not going to vote in Harris at the convention.

I hate to buy into conspiracy theory, but Democrats suggesting debate season start two months early certainly implies they had an idea how this would go and wanted to give themselves time for a substitute candidate prior to the convention. They’ve known for a long time what condition he’s in, even if they go on the

Oh calm down.  DeNiro sounded unhinged saying it, and so do you.  Trump’s going to end the popular vote?  Refuse to leave office in four years?  He tried to rally the troops last time and Biden was still inaugurated on January 20.  I’m no Trumper but this kind of talk makes my eyes roll into the back of my head.

I admire Jacob’s effort in fully documenting this disaster.  I didn’t count paragraphs but this was robust.

That sequence is great.  Costner’s buffoonish confidence in the plan, his belated concern about what happens if it works, and then the result.  Priceless.
