Yeah but that’s why there is pageantry to the show. 60,000 people singing along with Bono with a massive A/V display adding to the experience is a great time, and completely different from being in a 3,000-person theater.

Smaller shows have their charms for sure. Huge shows create their own energy where the connection is to the crowd rather than the artist. Either way, it’s pretty naive to think that some sort of social movement is going to deter acts from booking the biggest venue they can fill.

Not to mention that Swift and Beyonce can sell that many tickets at those prices because 1. duh they have dozens of recent hits each, but also 2. they have generation-spanning appeal. I always roll my eyes a bit at the 80s “because cocaine” justification but this may actually be the legit result of a whole bunch of people high as shit at exactly the same time.

This is a movie that looked so silly I never paid much attention to it but damn the cast and especially the people involved in original songs and scoring the movie are out of all proportion to the end result. Lane, Dafoe, Bubba, Rick fucking Moranis...I need to watch this again out of curiosity.

I remember nothing about this movie except the title and I Can Dream About You, and now totally want to revisit it knowing Lane stars as a sexy rock singer.  Rowr.

It’s been interesting watching my kids develop media habits that combine digital and physical.  They all have turntables and collect vinyl records of things they consider important.  The rest can go on playlists to be enjoyed for now, but without any need to own.  

I’m onboard with the suggestion that tickets can only be sold back to the venue, promoter, whoever, at face value and then resold at the same price.

I won’t get into the semantics of whether two episodes per night counts as all at once, but agree that two at a time is about all I can take without a breather.
