Same on Bullet Train. It’s basically John Wick...on a train. Weird underground codes of conduct, everyone knows who each other is, etc. Probably wouldn’t seek it out again, but enjoyable enough for in-flight entertainment.

Someone should also tell him the COVID big beard era is drawing to a close.

If I were Jenkins I wouldn’t care how they settled on me to direct the movie.  The last one made a billion dollars, so this may be the biggest payday opportunity he ever gets.  No one’s going to fault him for it.

Those pauses work in the SNL context, either because the audience isn’t there to pretend to have a sense of humor about itself or because of the aforementioned Norm effect.  In front of a room of people who take themselves extremely seriously it’s just going to be uncomfortable.

In fairness, that seems like an odd thing to self-immolate over.

A fact that he recognizes and plays off of (or collaborates with Che to play off of, anyway).

I was wondering the same thing.  Setting aside the Paramount situation, he has proven increasingly prickly.

Don’t discount your final point. If Paramount is looking at a potential sale then, like most companies in that position, it doesn’t want a roster of financial commitments that the buyer would have to live with.

I know people rant about movies that “couldn’t be made today” but damn

But it’s a fair point. If you were watching this on TV he’d be a character you love to hate. You’d laugh at his brazenness. Like Underwood. But a guy behaving like this IRL just makes me want to take a shower.

Narcissism is commonplace in entertainment; here you clearly have a dose of sociopathy as well.

On your last point, my wife and I thought the obvious disproportionate impact on lower-income kids whose families couldn’t afford private school, tutors, learning clusters or to opt out of work to home-school would force reopenings because once those kids fall behind, they do not catch up.  Naive on our part, I

Yeah but not because of inconclusive evidence or some sort of mischief. It was a potentially questionable call by the judge to let other allegations in as evidence against him despite not being proven. I know this was discussed at length when that article came out last week and apparently in sexual assault cases it’s

My favorite has been conversion of offshore oil & gas supply vessels (a badly challenged industry in the U.S. for a decade-plus) into luxury yachts.

I think Kurt did everything to telegraph that appearance was unimportant to him and his clothes came from a thrift shop. Most notably his MTV Unplugged sweater where he looked like he’d skinned Oscar the Grouch.

It does support the sociopolitical theory that we have the luxury of being at our most navel-gazey when there are no true external threats. The 90s by that metric should have been the happiest time since the 50s yet the dominant musical genre was grunge.

Which is where I’ve been going with this - he’s a guy I believe WAS just “doing a bit.” Whether that makes him an asshole is obviously subjective. Oblivious for sure and potentially unpleasant to be around if you’re not on the same wavelength (or willing to say “no” and just move on), but again my threshold for

No, it’s that his observation on the impact to Zuckerberg’s personal net worth is irrelevant.

Can’t fake that enthusiasm!

I think Barrymore’s adorable but she doesn’t have the full-on sexpot gear that Graham does.  I’ve also never seen her act in that kind of role so it’s tough to envision if she could pull it off.
