When Obama was president, they were worried about an authoritarian government and too much government regulation. Now that an actual fascist is in office, they can’t give away their rights fast enough. “Please save us from the scary brown people, Savior Trump! Oh, you can put the barcode tattoo anywhere you want.

Once again, the most prolific terrorists in our country are gun-waving white people.

“That is not me. That is not him.” “I would never walk up to you and say those words to you.”

“That is not me. That is not him,” Norton said in court.

Am I the only one that paused briefly on his name and thought, “you know what universe, fuck you and your sick sense of humor”?

And that’s with you living in the state where your birth certificate was issued!

IDs can be cost prohibitive for people who are low-income. Getting to a place to get an ID (especially when the accessible ones for specific parts of towns/cities are being shut down and/or getting their hours of operation cut) can be prohibitive in terms of distance and hours of service, particularly when you’re

Meaningful evidence?

Wow. In this day and age how can anyone not know about voter suppression? We are in some deep doo-doo. Some states have instituted voter ID restrictions, stopped early voting, closed polling places in democratic leaning areas, allows the use of firearm ID but not student ID as suitable identification, and the locales

Yeah the first article had a quote that sadly sums up:

And if I remember correctly, some states- after passing these horrible laws- then shut down a lot of the local DMVs making it hard to get to a place that will give people IDs. So it was already difficult to get to the DMV for some and now it can be a 3 hour one way trip. And god forbid they don’t have the exact

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m from a rural area where the average income is about 20k/yr.

StartingOverAgain mostly answered this but I thought I would add that it is mostly about poverty. Replacing an ID costs time and money. I presume if you have no car and you are working multiple jobs travelling to the location to get the needed ID is probably time consuming and the cost a problem.

Not really a surprise. With the accusations of “massive voter fraud”, it’s easy to see this administration is going to do everything in its power to make it harder for the poor and minorities to vote. I wouldn’t be surprised if they rolled out some kind of “National ID” that costs $100, requires a birth certificate,

Is not needing or being able to get a valid state ID a common thing in places?

“”There has been no new evidence that’s come to light.”

They have no shame, just hatred and white supremacy.

Let’s get real about this flag. It wasn’t continuously flown from 1861 until today. It was an obscure flag not flown very much at all from the end of the Civil War until after WWII, when it became popular with Dixiecrats. It gained prominence in the south during the fifties , and it didn’t fly over any government

Hell, they voted for a puppet of the Kremlin and called it making America great again, so God only knows what the hell they think America even is.
