Fair point. Won’t comment on whether that was a good car to cite as an example for the “underrated” question that was asked. Ahem.

Now playing

Is the spirit of this a car that is not critically acclaimed nor a hot seller? So the Challenger GT popped in my head. It’s essentially the drivetrain of a Grand Cherokee put into a retro muscle car package. So, no, not a muscle car. But yes, a good daily driver. Good looking and practical for us northerners.

So basically every Lincoln. They review as solid C+ to B. Most auto journalists wouldn’t pick over the Germans (except on price)...maybe tie with premium Japanese. And they are about as popular to the public as a transgender tolerance tent at a Trump rally.

For clarity: What I really mean is “what’s a good car that nobody seems to care about or buy?”

Honda seems to good at making cars that are a hoot to drive (according to youtube videos I watch). Like Mazda...but I feel like Honda gets less acclaim making this a good point.

Critically acclaimed = highly rated. Highly rated is the opposite of underrated.

Excellent point.

Agreed. They are also tuneable which can up the power a bit more. Because you mentioned used, the M235i is a very good deal. Slap a tune on it and its an M2 Lite. Its missing the LSD, bigger brakes, and suspension tuning, but it is still pretty close as a DD.

10th Gen Accord 2.0t. I’m slightly biased as I own one now but damn it’s an absolute hoot to drive. Has all the space you need and just rips when you step on it!

BMW M240i. Almost as fast as M2. Over 300 HP. Manual. Even better used as it is (or was) cheap.

Not my cup of tea but gave it a Nice Price as the current market is insane and have seen older but well sorted cars getting crazy sounding money. Last year I would’ve said No Dice at this price but this Cayenne gets a pass for now with the SHITS(tm) algorithm, the SARS-CoV2 Higher Inflated Transaction Situation.

Someone make this man the official Jalopnik mascot. Now.

As a US patent attorney, maybe I can shed some light on the situation. You are correct, Jason. After a year, you cannot patent an invention that you have made publicly available (and publishing on the internet counts). Whether you sign the declaration or not, Canoo will be able to use the internet article as prior art

You make some excellent points. I think at this point now, we as car people should just judge the car for what it is. Mustang Mach E...is a good car. We need to put on our big boy/girl pants and deal with it (message is as much for me as it is for others).

I’ve bought 7 (5 new, 2 used) cars in my life from dealers and about a week ago took delivery of a Tesla Model 3 Performance. My opinion is the opposite of yours except in 1 case when I bought a car from Carmax which I would rate as almost equal in terms of pain in the ass scale to Tesla (mild and none respectively).

1st Gear: If Tesla is the alternative case then a robust dealer network is preferable to me. Buying a Tesla was no easier than getting a car through a traditional dealer and getting a Tesla serviced is a lot more difficult. It can take over a month to get an appointment. Plus no one answers the phone at Tesla service.

The minivan.

I would include Jerry Sandusky, but that’s just rude.

I recommend it for Harvey Weinstein, R Kelly, Kevin Spacey, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Bill Cosby.

I’m with you. I was extremely confused when I read that Tesla had 4.8 hyperloops when there are zero hyperloops in existence and they’re chance of success is about where Lucid Motors is...
