A 97% drop in car sales is what it looks like when you really shut down nonessential business. I can believe that 3% of the car sales in a typical period are true essentials (“my car just got totaled and I need a replacement.”) The other 97% can wait a couple months.

Neutral: It would be nice to get the cars off the sidewalks where I live. Actually, having sidewalks consistently would be nice too, but it seems like putting a sidewalk out attracts SUVs like honey attracts bears.

I disagree. The Fords especially look fine the ram are fine and I don’t even mind the chevy. Imo the worst looking trucks are from when manufacturers started switching to the rounded bodies. In the 90s and early 2000s.

all neccessities should be nationalized. oil, water, health care, internet (infrastructure), etc. The rest of the economy can stay private, so long as monopolies are broken up, like amazon, microsoft, apple etc.
