So what? Presumably if Hollywood released a big-budget action movie in which the African-American characters were cartoonishly evil antebellum slaves you wouldn't just say, "Oh, well, it's too over-the-top to be taken seriously."

Why wouldn't Django count? You can't arbitrarily exclude evidence that contradicts your argument.
