She got her entirely livelihood through her parents giving her attractive genes and lots of shopping money, so it doesn’t strike me as especially unfair for her to lose it over her parents’ decisions.

She doesn’t seem to have thoughts so much as she has knee-jerk feelings. She didn’t make any kind of argument for legacies, although I’m sure she believes she did.

This was an actual plot on Shameless.

I’ve always been a fan of William H. Macy, and I probably still am, but now I’ll always know he’s just Frank Gallagher but rich.

So tiring when people think racism is more important than bringing Chanel back to relevancy.

You don’t really need to approve or disapprove, you only need to shut up.

It’s not an acceptable thing to ask of someone unless you’re in an established sexual relationship with them. Otherwise, the power dynamics had better be either equal or skewed in the favor of the person being asked. I highly doubt that, early in his career, he ever asked if he could masturbate at an audition or a job

I felt the same, as did most of the young women I knew. One friend started dating an older man, and we were all terrified by the possibility that she might encounter gray pubes.

It seems unlikely we would know about it if they did have a disagreement. The story seems pretty vague, too.

This is the only woman I’ve ever thought this about, but this just seems like an attention grab. I don’t understand her point, especially in going into detail about threesomes. Yes, she explained her “reason for coming forward”, but everyone who has ever heard of him already knows Woody Allen is obsessed with teenage

Also, if I’m understanding the situation and doing my math right, she would have been around 25.

I once laughed through a guy slamming my head into the wall with his penis. Everyone who saw it knew I still wasn’t okay with it. The sheer absurdity and inappropriateness of the action/request matters.

I’m so glad you spoke to this. When I was young, this kind of “gray” behavior was so damaging. One boyfriend never listened to me, I would push his hand away and he would just put it back like my clear non-verbal cues were some kind of accident, and wouldn’t let me sleep until I had sex with him. I wasn’t afraid and I

I wouldn’t mind him trying to speak up for a recently deceased loved one, but he does it with such authority. He has absolutely no way of knowing what happened, and the facts available to us make it pretty clear that he’s obviously wrong.

She also speaks of physical abuse. But the other things she’s saying could be taken either way. It seems like more of a Rorschach test for the person reading it. Soon-Yi could have also been pretty ambivalent about Mia. She might have desperately wanted her attention, but also done a lot to push her away. Who knows.

Soon-Yi has had quite a life, it sounds like from birth right up to the present moment. She’s suspect to me, but so is Mia Farrow.

I understand why some commenters are objecting to those saying Soon-Yi may have an attachment disorder, but the truth is it’s very likely she does. Mia Farrow probably wouldn’t have been

I think it was more symbolic of Mia withholding guidance and affection. My mom didn’t teach me to put on makeup. She didn’t teach me how to put in a tampon, either - in fact, I would have been horrified if she had. I know how to do makeup now because I’m 41 years old and had college roommates and access to YouTube.

Agreed. Mia Farrow being physically and emotionally abusive makes her children more likely to be abused by other parties, not less.

Reading Mia Farrow’s memoir, she struck me as a professional victim type; histrionic, self-pitying, manipulative. Mothers like her are great at controlling even their adult children. You can bask in their favor, or you can be exiled. They might have some idea, but maybe haven’t seen the worst of it, or are afraid of

Exactly. I rarely claim I know how I’d react in a situation I’ll probably never be in, but I am 100% certain I would not physically attack my daughter if I caught her in a sexual relationship with my boyfriend.

Probably the point of her ordering Woody around is to illustrate that she’s in charge and not a victim. Whether or not it’s true or just an act, I have no idea.
