With the Lumia, I also think that Microsoft's ClearType subpixel rendering helps quite a bit to make the text look sharper than you'd normally get for that resolution. The iPhone 5 and Lumia should almost be identical in terms of PPI, but the font rendering really gives the Lumia an upper hand in terms of text quality.

The iPad Mini is basically the Apple version of the Cadillac Cimarron, the "luxury" version of the Cavalier that GM put out to compete with the small Japanese and European imports of the early 80s. Just like the Cimmaron, it just tarnishes the better brand because it gives you less for more.

You can get a "refurbed" iPad 3 now staring at $379, which is probably just existing inventory being blown out instead of actual refurbs at this point. Compared to that, the Mini is a complete rip off.

Speed Racer is a huge guilty pleasure for me. It is just a fundamentally fun movie, with gorgeous eye candy. Completely underrated.

You forgot to mention that the screen resolution is kind of a joke compared to the Fire HD and the Nexus 7. Plus, that thin bezel is look like it could make holding it a pain.
