Several people have mentioned this, but I’ll reiterate; these number are definitely inflated. There are scores of good in-state colleges and universities where the annual cost is more like $7k. Over inflating numbers like this will only dissuade people from saving for their children.

9-12 hours (5 days-ish a week) is the standard now for most professional white-collar jobs; especially in the CS arena. You can get away with 8 hour days, just don't expect that particular position to make much money compared to others whom are expected to work more.
