In Hispanic cooking, we generally use a vegetable base in many dishes including beans, rice, soups and stews. The base varies from region to region, but I know my parents use scallions in our version of the base and I suspect many others too. I also really like to use in stir fries.

Ive recently gone on several long flights and I did not “prepare” for them at all. I sat in my aisle seat and read my newspaper. Then I just sat there till we landed. It’s really not hard at all, you don’t need the pillows and blankets and drugs and entertainment.

I can make a juicy pork chop by pan searing it and then moving the pan in the oven to finish cooking. The problem is that when the bulk of the meat is at the perfect temperature, the meat on the bone is under cooked. So I eat most of it and when I get to the bone I stick it in the microwave for a little bit.

I’ve never used a dishwasher in my life and I know a few other people that have also never used a dishwasher. I know washing by hand actually uses more water but I can’t see myself letting enough dirty dishes to pile up for a full load in the dishwasher, I just wash things as soon as I’m done with it.
