I have no problem with learning the history. I'm always eager to learn history. My problem with this article is that it's written in the typical format of "look at how terrible/racist this area was 150 years ago and they should still feel guilty about it".

Another Gawker story about how current-generation white people should be ashamed and guilty for something that happened several generations ago. It also ends with no solution or ideas for how to resolve issues, just a "wake up and realize how racist you are". I am from Oregon, and frankly didn't know any of this part

As with almost all of your posts, I agree with every point. Some simple math clearly shows leasing is a terrible idea. There are no "good lease deals". A manufacturer is not going to intentionally lose money on a car right out of the factory (excluding Veyron and LFA) so someone has to eat the three-year depreciation

Um... It was already owned and built by one.

I will NEVER buy Progressive simply based on their painfully terrible marketing right now. I listen to iHeartradio all day and have to hear at least 3-4 "Flo" ads an hour. The mute button on my keyboard is almost worn down completely.

I completely understand that the trap speed for the Tesla is fairly slow when compared to the trap speed of the Hellcat. The Hellcat will undoubtedly accelerate faster beyond 70mph, I would guess. I am simply looking at the numbers based on other reviews of both cars and the fact that the hellcat does not accelerate

This is the Tesla P85D- The fastest Tesla they've made. With a perfect launch and perfect gear changes, the Hellcat will do an 11.2, not from any babied-off-the-line start.

A lot of people in the states are already paying almost $1/Gal in gas tax (18.4 cents federal, 71.3 cents in California).

Exactly. Anything over 1/4 mile, and the Hellcat walks away with an easy win. But from 0mph, the Tesla has a massive grip and torque advantage.

Of course you can calculate out the torque but the tesla has 700lb-ft of torque at 0rpm. Combine that with awd and no changing gears, the tesla has a far greater consistent and faster 0-60 than the hellcat. the tesla removes almost all the human error the hellcat driver creates. Very few drivers can achieve the the

In a mile long race, almost any driver in a Hellcat would catch the Tesla, but in a 1/4 mile race, the Tesla has the ability to launch off the line extremely consistently. The Hellcat is, I'm sure, not very easy to maintain and manage power off the line, especially if it's a manual. 1/4 mile race, I'd say the Tesla

Which is when it matters in a drag race- off the line. The hell cat has a ton of HP, but it takes some serious skill to make it work. Drag racing is all about the launch, and the Tesla has that in spades. Any driver in a Hellcat would easily catch up with a Tesla in a mile-long race, but I'm willing to bet the Tesla

While some of the FAA regulations surely have made aviation safer, they have also been the biggest hindrance to the aviation industry advancing in the last 50 years as much as it did the first 50 years.

The P85D can do an 11.6 second 1/4 mile with almost any driver behind the wheel. The Hellcat can do an 11.2 with a Dodge test driver behind the wheel. I'd venture to guess the Tesla would win 95% of the time up against 100 different drivers in the Hellcat.

Maybe, with a professional driver in the Hellcat. That Hellcat takes some serious skill to manage a decent time on a drag strip. The Tesla has a "GO" button on the floor and very little problem managing traction.

Not sure in what world this looked like a fair fight. A Tesla with AWD and almost 700lb-ft of instant torque is not a surprising win.

That's the most high-tech, redneck idea I've seen in a while.

I sat in one of these last year at an outdoor show. The seats had the softest leather I've ever felt. They felt like a $3,000 leather jacket.

I drive this stretch of freeway between Oregon and Idaho twice a month (driving it tomorrow). It can be extremely nasty this time of year.

IF it wasn't a slushmatic.
