The parallels between Trump and L. Ron Hubbard have been very striking from the very start of his campaign.

The problem with saying “organize your people” is that clearly, my people are idiots and don’t want to consider anyone else’s point of view.

I remember when I lived in Costa Rica many years ago that some of the girls talked about taking a pill to bring on their periods if they were late. As I was only just learning Spanish and just becoming sexually active, it took me a long time to retrospectively connect the dots.

One of my favorite scenes in TRAPPED was when a doctor read off the “abortion causes breast cancer” litany and immediately followed it with “they can make me say that, but they can’t prevent me from giving my medical opinion, and my medical opinion is there is not one shred of evidence that statement is true.”

Exactly, and Trump’s obsession with social media - He’ll go with what social media tells him are popular with his base and go with it. For a man who doesn’t trust computers, he sure as hell loves the things that can only be used through that type of tech.
