I'll go with Young Frankenstein because it's more a proper film — so it had to walk the fine line of resolving the plot and character arcs — and I prefer sex jokes to fart jokes.

In my love-crossed 20's maybe only singing along with the Replacements "Unsatisifed" was more cathartic that singing/screaming/crying along with:

Old enough to have seen this when it was originally broadcast, and quite literally thought it was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen in my life.

Slim is the brother of Fuzzy Dunlop from The Wire

Too many things to say about Paul and the 'mats, and I've been saying those things for 30 years now (and gods willing, for at least 30 years hence), but here's one small thing on the power of Paul Westerberg.

Let me second "Unfair" by Pavement.

I was actually thinking yesterday that National Lampoon and Firesign Theater were working some of the same territory.

I saw them a few times  from 85-91, and they always played straightforward shows. They were probably drunk as all hell, but the sets never degenerated into ill-considered covers poorly played.

I'll miss your TV writing like I already miss your music writing.

I was actually referring to this infamous Willie Nelson album:

Who will buy her memories?

One more thing about Summerall & Brookshier. For awhile in the 1970s, they anchored a Saturday afternoon NFL highlights show that was — with the exception of Monday Night Football's "Halftime Highlights" — pretty much the only set of clips from those out-of-market games involving far-off cities like "Baltimore" and

The only Elvis Costello album I love more than this one is This Year's Model.

"I mean, how many horses had to die before they cancelled Luck?!? I should get at least that many!!"

Yup. I remember several of these on the radio growing up. Not just the aforementioned "Mr. Jaws," but the Watergate one, and a thing called "Convention '72" which at some point I had totally memorized.
