Truly you are doing the lord’s work. If there was a lord.
Oh good.
A recent study found that people who played first-person shooter video games showed shrinkage in their hippocampus,…
One of the best podcast series ever - Wrath of the Khans is the best!
There was also a full length movie about the EXACT same premise produced by Spike Lee a few years ago.
Theme songs say a lot, and I think they’re important. My brother and I pay a lot of attention to it, and pass judgment on each one. We loved the new ST:TNG (back when it was new), and noticed how it would change as the years progressed from horns to more violins, etc. When Voyager came out we both sat there listening,…
I have never had end credits cut off without warning. Usually they shrink into a little box and give a prompt and countdown, which you can typically dismiss (but I’d rather I didn’t have to). It does vary a lot by platform though. I have 6 different things in my household that play Netflix, of various ages and levels…
I think Netflix does it because they presume people want to jump to the next episode, not due to bandwidth (or not ONLY due to it). I think if bandwidth were the primary issue, it wouldn’t automatically start playing the next episode of a thing.
I posted earlier, but our networks would cut entire gags from the Simpsons to make them fit. It’s most obvious in one’s favourite episodes, when you’re waiting for that classic moment when Homer says d’oh... and he never does.
Syndicated Simpsons episodes have had shortened intros for as long as I can remember, and like 10 years ago TNT started shows while the end credits for the last episode were running, presumably to get some more ads in the hour.
I think it kind of shows that although intros are to be expected, they can also be really unnecessary. I can’t imagine the intro/outro format in any other medium other than tv, haha.
It would be weird to see books that always start and end the same, in order to get you excited for the next installment and then remind…
The FX show Atlanta doesn’t even have an intro, just a title card that lasts a few seconds, and then into the show. It seems like a better use of the time, in any case.
Agree. If I catch a migraine early enough 3 tablets, if not 5.
Nice, what’s the gameplay like?
Counterpoint: Fuck this guy, Twin Peaks is pointless without context. The series is dense with its own logic and lore and cutting out any single part would cause the central narrative to crumble.
