I'm not hating on the age difference, I am her age and I have nothing against dating younger men. However, it is difficult for me to imagine her having any interest in an 18 year old high schooler who she's never met and knows nothing about.

WELL THEN, that's quite the MRA army you've got behind you. You don't happen to be 18, do you? Your name doesn't happen to be Patrick, does it?

What's your definition of "plenty" these days?

That's not what anyone is saying. I think that the commenter is saying is that IT DEPENDS ON THE CONTEXT and in this context, it was not appropriate. Enough with the willful misreading. Maybe if the kid would never have the opportunity to talk to her alone in a social setting, that's a sign that maybe a relationship

Oh, I completely disagree. I think he thought by putting her on the spot there might've been a slim chance she'd say yes out of pity or whatever. I don't think it was entirely a joke at all. Why do it if he didn't think there was a least a chance of her feeling pressured to say yes?

Wait, are you for real? He doesn't even know this woman. They were not meeting in a chance social situation, she was there as part of her "job", as it were, to give a lecture to the children in this high school. She is 25, he is presumably under 18. You know very well that this isn't a regular "asking a woman out"

Wait, are you for real? Did you read his post? He specifically said:

Excuse me, but why would she have any interest in going to prom with an underage teenage boy she doesn't know? It's fucking weird. You should know that by putting a celebrity on the spot like that, it puts them in a position where either they say yes or look horrible and mean for shutting the kid down publicly.

Fair point - I don't understand why everyone jumps to the conclusion that women who kill their children must be mentally ill. To me it is always just as likely that they have serious personality problems, or have anti-social personality disorder. I'm sure many of them are just malevolent, shitty people.

Wait what? I didn't get that vibe from this story at all. Clearly this man would be a neglectful parent whether he had access to video games or not.

Yes, but the more time we spend talking about what trash they are and how ashamed their parents must be, the less likely people's attitudes towards them are to change, no? I think changing the way we talk about sex work is an important step in reducing the stigma associated with it.

What is the point in pointing that out? No one aspires for their child to become a janitor or maid, either. Or a greeter at Wal-Mart. The stigmatization of these jobs, and of sex work in particular, is still not a good thing. Strippers are people, and I don't think it's good or helpful to talk about them that way.

Ugh, are you for real?

Oh good! Nevermind then.

Buddy, what the hell are you talking about??? Are you saying that all rich men are rapists?

What's wrong with being a stripper?

This explains a lot.

Ehh, I'd take a rich douche over you any day of the week.

What about the girls who might want to date his daughter?

Again, I think you are placing two things in competition with each other when they needn't be.
