Sorry that the Souls games don’t slap you in the face with a ham sandwich of corny story cuts...

As a kid I used to draw all the art (or rather copy) from the instruction manuals, and read them front to back coming back from the video game store...sad. I miss them too.

Saw Cleaver is the best weapon in the game in my opinion...even after all the DLC, I still use the saw cleaver almost exclusively. The bow blade is fun and occasionally useful, but the saw cleaver is the best. It does the most damage, and when folded its fast.

Do you plan on playing the DLC? It’s absolutely soul crushing. The enemies might as well be mini-boss encounters...and there are a lot.

...it’s like they are actually in a working environment with many people trying to accomplish the same thing. SHOCKING.

So it goes him and then the Blood-Starved Beast, both of those fights are PAINFULLY DIFFICULT...after that it mellows a tad. Beating Gaiscone and opening up the cathedral ward is awesome. That’s a great area in the game.

It just got to the point that if a game had a high production value, lots of cherry CGI and/or cutscenes, it was instantly “rated” high...with no bearing on if it was “fun” or what not. I think the Dark Souls movement proved a game can be successful, hard, and fun at the same time without (initial) industry support.

It def. helps...I couldn’t get past him in NG++ without co-op help and someone running the music box...he is absolutely brutal because of all the graves in his stage that you get trapped against when back peddling...his reach is vicious.

Remember when nobody played these games and everyone was like, THESE ARE TOO HARD TO BE POPULAR. REAL VIDEO GAME PLAYERS JUST WANT TO WATCH A CUT SCENE MOVIE FEST OF A GAME WITH NO CHALLENGE AND LOTS OF QTE. Ha!

The hollowing mechanism is gone, not the soul loss. The hollowing mechanism was down right annoying in Dark Souls 2. You had to have a ring equipped to even make it reasonable reductions, not the 3 deaths and you start with 50% health...but, for the sake of brutality, it was very dark souls-y....

use the music box, it’ll stun him for a few seconds allowing you to get good licks in...there’s a finite use during the boss fight as too much will cause him to go BEZERK BEAST MODE, regardless of health...best to wait until you have him in his final stage and use the music box to stun him for some good licks. Good…

...I can’t wait to see blue screens and red rings of death on everything.
