I love Abbi and Ilana, but Hannibal makes that show for me. So good.
I just started watching this show like two nights ago and I love it. Hannibal Buress and his character are SO good. "I can't adopt a dog! I have the crazy life of a dentist!"
Yes it is, and I think you might be missing that some of this is to explain to the multitude of clueless people what this privilege is. It might bother you, but honestly if there are people who read these, and finally get what is wrong, then I don't have a problem with it.
If it weren't so, we wouldn't have so many people defending racist cops in the first place.
I guess I don't really understand how it's "piggybacking" when it is the same issue- but I can appreciate that some people might see it that way, and will not be using the hashtag.
I dunno.
I think these stories are directed at other white people, the many, many who we keep hearing from, who truly believe that race has nothing to do with these murders. They were "bad" people who happened to be black, and "good" cops who happened to be white rightfully shot them. I think the intent behind the hashtag is…
Criming while white is also good to keep in mind when racists tout crime statistics about how much blacks break the law. It's easy for that to happen when that's one of the few groups that is arrested and charged to the fullest extent of the law in every single instance.
Was anyone legitimately surprised to learn that white people are able to get away with damn near anything by the police?
I took #CrimingWhileWhite to be for the nay-saying white audience, actually. People saying, "Well, I'm white, and I've been in trouble! It can't be a racial thing!". These people already are dismissing what black people are saying about their own experiences, and so white allies are attempting to fill in the space…
A friend (black) and I were accosted and detained by a cop while walking in the wealthy white neighborhood our high school is located in. It's a good thing our other friend (guess) was there to tell the cops we were with him and just walking to his house. #Alivewhileblack
My impression was that the hashtag isn't for educating black people about how nice the cops are to white people, but educating fellow white people on their own hypocrisy. It's a lot harder to say that these murdered black men were thugs and criminals who "got what they deserved" when white people admit to the same…
The most common argument I see from white people re Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin is "why make it about race? This could happen to anyone." If any of those people had a glimmer of open mindedness, stories of "criming while white" might have an impact. But as with anything on twitter, everyone's…
Agreed, but I think the title is unnecessarily inflammatory.
When I heard of the misogynistic rantings of the UCSB shooter, the first thing I was reminded of, was the massacre at the Ecole Polytechnique.
I am so not decent.
Right? I want to be better than that. I AM better than that.
I'm incredibly impressed with this accuser. They've done everything to discourage, smear, and intimidate her and she's still going forward. Kudos.
