I watched these movies with my son for the first time last week, and I had actually forgotten how solid Empire Strikes Back is. 12 year old me thought he was lying.  Remember - there was no internet to discuss it on either.  We had to read about it in magazines (which were printed on paper) that came out weekly or monthly.

My takeaway is that there may not be many Ford Contours still on this earth, but they are all owned by raging alcoholics.

I wouldn’t call it “woke” but I think the female space marines in Aliens were ahead of their time.

I guess. But let’s be honest — the choice of a female lead in the Alien franchise was never meant to be an empowering feminist statement or anything despite what Scott has said. Alien was a horror movie and Ripley was the just the typical “final girl” who survives at the end.

Well, that looks fucking weird. Which is NOT a typical reaction to an Apatow film, since they have felt same-y as of late. I think I’m actually interested in this! Mainly for Duchovny, though, let’s be real.

Jupiter’s Legacy wasn’t super horrible it just took FOREVER to get anywhere.  The season finale felt like it should have been mid season.

Oh, now you’re making me feel nostalgic for when AV Club grades meant something.

A- minus reflection on a C+ review.

I feel comfortable coming out and saying that I too was cast as Jerry Buss. I only found out I was fired when I showed up to set and literally no one had ever heard of me and everyone yelled at me to leave or they would call security.

The idea of John C. Reilly worrying about his ability to get work is literally the worst thing I have read in the news in the last ten years. What if he'd had to go back to porn? 

Remember discovering his Comedy Central Presents...set on, well, Comedy Central as a kid. Middle of the day, there I sat: enraptured. Dude was very, very funny. RIP.

I can tell you from experience as a crewmember: No. No, we would not want that.  We already work enough long ass hours and being forced to do so even more is not worth the overtime that we may not even get anyway.

I’d say name recognition but the original is old enough now that I doubt many people in the target demo have heard of it (unless they’re Bowie fans).

I blame the timing.  Do we really need a show right now about a massive segment of the population dying off in the midst of an actual plague that has killed millions?  Though it got good reviews, even Station Eleven, I thought was rather crass in its timing, and I noped out of t part way through.  I just don’t need…
