I would spend a year driving nothing but Mirages if it meant avoiding one more day behind the wheel of another frickin’ Kia Sorrento.

I really hate that you aren’t able to rent manual transmission cars in the US. I understand WHY that’s the case, but it still grates on me every time I go rent anything sporty or interesting and I’m thwarted by America’s aversion to shifting gears by hand.

This is also a huge problem for OEM’s. Where are they supposed to offload all the shit people won’t buy? If they’re selling SUV’s to car rental companies, who’s going to buy all the Dodge AVENGERS. THINK OF THE AVENGERS.

Alas, not in Columbus yet!

Sixt. You’ll thank me. I promise.

As someone who rents a car 5 days a week, every week, let me shed some light on why my whole team abandoned Hertz (even though they are the “preferred” agency of our company). They’re years behind Enterprise/National in terms of offerings, technology and service.

Sixt is, in fact, the shit. Every time I rent from them, they offer some crazy upgrade for like $5 per day. Reserved a Hyundai at $32 per day?How about a ML350 for $37 per day or a 435i for an even $40?

So, armchair stock traders - is hertz a good buy? Do you think it will bounce back? Or do you think services like uber/lyft and the impending march of autonomous cars will keep the stock low?

Great. More Jeep Compasses and Patriots to choose from.

Seriously. My insurance claim customers always get into Enterprise cars first, the only people using Hertz are those on ERACs “Do not rent” list for unpaid bills. State Farm claims are the only ones I know of for a Direct Repair Shop that go to Hertz first and their customers constantly wait 30 mins plus for a rental

Maybe if they could get their pricing in line with every other rental car company they could make a profit. I can’t remember the last time I even considered Hertz. Insurance companies love them though. Had a Nissan Altima as a comparable to my Saab 9-5 six or seven years ago. I still remember vividly how much I hated

More and more customers want to rent SUVs instead of the dinky cars usually associated with rental fleets

My grandmother loves writing checks for everything and even she doesn’t use them to get gas. That’s just nuts.

In my area (Columbus) it seems to be Altimas/Maximas.

Wow, this is worse than I thought. She also makes people wait in line behind her while she writes a check. Definitely needs to get help.

Kansas keeps finding reasons for me to not want to go there.

I’m a little bit stunned by this. Not by the content of the article, but by the fact that I just read a whole article on a gawker site about poverty, Detroit, and state tyranny, without a single mention of race or some dumbass implication that a bureaucratic entity is racist. :O

I acknowledged that winters wear quicker if you run them in warm weather.

To me this data doesn’t paint an all that convincing picture. How many times does someone run into repeated max braking panic stops in the real world? On the first stop the winters stopped within 4 feet of the all seasons. That’s pretty dang close. (The reverse test on snow in the winter has a much larger difference.)

Please no. No squatty-ass melty-looking cars for me.
