As someone that did a lot of experimentation with hallucinogens when I was younger, it's the hallucinations that look "fake" that unsettle you more than the convincing ones. It actively undermines your sense of reality.

I have a clip of that scene marked on Youtube. When I want the emotional hit of the whole series condensed into five minutes, that scene always does the trick.
