I think part of it was that the show began with more of a distinctly Groening feel. His comic strip Life in Hell was very effective at tapping into what childhood actually felt like. During the first couple of seasons, they did a good job of tapping into that. As the show became more absurd by Season 3, Homer was

Co-leads is an interesting topic. Mulder and Scully is almost a little too easy though as they are frequently the only recurring characters in an episode. Will and Hannibal is a good one though.

Your comment highlights a common flaw in these AV Q&As. The headline is a different topic than than the question that is asked in the introduction, The headline talks about the "best" character, but the actual question posed is about "your favorite" character.

"Don't blame the dildos!"

I'm glad I am not the only one that saw that.

It was one of those Faustian pacts where the Devil thought he got the upper hand. "Yes, you will live forever, but you will live forever as a bald, middle-aged man! Muuhahahahahah!!!"

That was part of it. It also didn't feel right for Martha to be some action hero running around with gun. That didn't feel right to me at all.

I kind of wish they had let him play himself in that flashback scene to him working in his dad's store as a kid.

They have had a few chances to undo everyone knowing about the Doctor. When the Doctor got erased and brought back by Amy at the end S5, I thought Moffat might use it to erase him from the universe's memory, but no. Then he actively had the Doctor erased from the Dalek's memory, but that was quickly forgotten as well.

We knew you really needed this one, Ben.

Hey, I watch Better Call Saul, so I am practiced at ignoring things like that.

New Who is a much smaller universe than the old one. It's not just because we keep getting callbacks to the old show, it's also because everyone, everywhere in all of time and space knows the Doctor which sucks half the fun out of the whole concept.

You could go say it's that incarnation from before he used the watch. It's a stretch, but I could go with it if Jacobi came back.

And you get there seconds before me.

If a noble had written those plays, there would be a lot less references to dicks and and hos.

"You misunderstood me. I was saying that Elba is too urbane to be Bond!"

He's going to be the surprise reveal at the end of part one.

If they were able to surprise us with Tom Baker coming back, they should have been able to surprise us with this.

Even if we don't see it, you know it happens.

Martha got the best possible send-off they could give her after the way they saddled her with the stupid crush all season. She might be the only new companion that didn't get a crappy send-off now I think about it.
