I understand there are many compelling reasons it’s a good idea to avoid an acrimonious relationship with the White House, but how long are journalists going to endure being referred to as the opposition before they actually become the opposition?

What a sweet face! I wish that’s all the damage mine did, but hers was much, much worse. Not only did she rip open and shake the contents of two large cushions all over the room, she also tore out the fabric that conceals the springs.
That face has allowed her to get away with a multitude of sins, like eating the couch. As you can see, she knows how to be irresistible.
It’s challenging!
My sweet pea is a tug-of-war fiend and likes to bring me tiny pieces of her stuffed animals to pull on. The small green item pictured below is her favorite. It’s one of several feet that used to belong to a stuffed caterpillar. She has lots of other toys we could use, including nice, sturdy ropes, but nope; as far as…
This morning, I saw that horrific photo again of the little Syrian boy who drowned and washed up on a beach while seeking asylum with his family. Each time I’ve seen it in the past, I was overcome with emotion, but this morning was different. This time, it caused a full-blown sobbing meltdown that segued into a panic…
Reminds me of shopping for a prom dress with my dad. I asked him to take me because he had better taste in clothes than my mother. Things went rapidly downhill when I fell in love with a dress that was split to the waist in the front and risqué as hell. I’ll never forget the look on my dad’s face when I sashayed out…
I did the digital equivalent of peeking through my fingers by continually stopping and restarting the video. The secondhand embarrassment was unbearable.
Priorities! Our kids may not be able to read, but they can sure pass a football.
Yes, we are, and it’s going to be hard to be patient. But after yesterday, I feel like my voice can actually make a difference. I needed to find a way out of my doldrums after the election, because I felt so personally ineffectual. The march made that happen—I have renewed vigor and purpose.
I posted a couple of photos from the march on FB. So far, none of my conservative friends and family have directly commented negatively; instead, they responded by posting links to articles that invite women to participate in a REAL march—the only IMPORTANT march—to protest Roe v. Wade and “abolish abortion once and…
I found my hope again yesterday. Watching footage from marches around the world has helped me see that we have a powerful voice, and it’s up to us to find a way to use it. It was so gratifying to see just how people shared my feelings, including some who have the ability to effect change at the highest levels.…
The one I saw was worded differently, but the message was the same. I’m so sick of seeing comments like, “suck it up, crybaby,” as if my feelings are simply sour grapes because Clinton didn’t win. It doesn’t seem to matter how despicable their candidate’s behavior is—I’m apparently the problem because I refuse to…
After watching footage of the marches around the world, I feel energized and have a renewed sense of purpose. I refuse to let them bring me down.
Unfollowing is my new best friend.
You’re exactly right. I made a sweep through Facebook this morning and unfollowed the shit out of people. It made me sad to see just how many family members and “friends” (and I use that word loosely) are Trump supporters.
I’ve been riding high on the feeling of solidarity all day. Being with so many like-minded people made me feel more hopeful than I have since the election.
I was moved to tears many times. It was solidarity on a scale I’ve never seen before, and it felt really good to spend the afternoon with literally thousands of people who feel and think like I do.
I was talking to some people at the Nashville women’s march this morning, and the topic was exactly that: They think the resistance to Trump is sparking a grassroots movement much like the tea party’s. I hope so.
“...an education system flush with cash”? Are you fucking kidding me? Since when? My father was a teacher and there are several in my family, and they have to pay for classroom supplies with their own money all the time, or go without. Salaries are abysmally low, and many schools don’t have the funds to even make…
