Yea it shouldn’t be a big deal, this is pretty much exactly how LoL handles their patches and players don’t seem to have any issues with adapting to changes.

collision is generally an expensive process and ideally a situation where the player is on the inside of a model shooting out should never happen. So in most situations checking for collision on both sides would just be processing power that could be used elsewhere.
