My GF and I eat tons of fruit, so to help with the Fruit Fly problem, we've used an extra tupperware container in the freezer for apple cores, banana peels etc. We empty it into the trash before we take it out.

The extra shitty thing is that there are still going to be tons of commercials, etc. during the game. Soccer at least has the excuse of having no commercials during the game. This is the worst of both worlds.
