Also “not the better half.”

The axe scene Tom cites above is truly the core of what makes the movie work. The whole sequence is brilliant, as Rose goes from one man to another asking for help to rescue Jack, and having to assert herself more and more as each one of them insists on just telling her what to do rather than listening to her. When

Any time I’m on any sort of water-going vessel and we start to move, I impulsively wave and shout “IM’ONA NAYVER FORGAYT YOOOOOO!!!” at the top of my lungs. That to me is Titanic’s most lasting legacy.

I imagined an extremely long marriage where she let her husband know every single day that he was a consolation prize.

“I put the diamond in the coat.”
(henchman nods, not quite getting it yet)
“I PUT THE COAT ON HER!”

Of all the Titanic trivia to be had, the one that perversely sticks with me is how Gloria Stuart was a victim of GOP cancel culture immediately after the film, because at 87 years old she had absolutely no reservations about mentioning in an interview that she preferred masturbating to men.

I know I just wrote a long self indulgent post below, but if you will indulge me one more I want to say why I have always liked Good Will Hunting. The story of how me and my wife fell in love is kind of similar to the “Have to go see about a girl” story Robin Williams tells in the movie.

That whole second half is incredible. You’re right about the tone change - seeing it at the cinema again a couple of years ago made me really appreciate the relentless dread and horror that Cameron had linger through it all. Even having seen it a few times before, the hour and a half spent revelling in lavish love

The door thing has annoyed me for the last 25 years. Yes, they both could have fit on the thing, but the collective weight of two adults would have sunk it. I don’t know why that’s been so hard for people to understand.

Firstly, there is no way both Jack and Rose could have both fit on that door. Keep in mind, they both attempted to climb onto the door and it flipped. There was even a deleted scene where Jack explicitly tells another survivor that there’s only enough room on the door for one person or it will go under.

For the first 15 seconds of that video, I was underwhelmed. I thought it looked kinda dumb.

Because Rebecca is about the journey from being attracted to your dad to being attracted to murders.

My Barron. My freakishly tall Barron. He’s very tall. And immune. My immune Barron. He’s very immune. Like me, and Melania. We’re all very immune.

I think we all know there’s only one truly worthwhile adaptation of ‘Rebecca’:

Oooh, this one is my favorite so far!! Terrifying!

A Face in the Window

Not really a scary story, but it contains a death and something I can’t explain to this day.

So I live in a mid sized town in the south and every weekend my mother and I would hop into the car and drive down to our local bookstore for some coffee and chat. This day I had also taken her to the craft store so it was now

When I was 10 my mom and I had to drive through the Colorado Rockies in the middle of the night. We were going home from a family reunion and on the last leg home crossing six states, she said we had enough money left for gas or to stay overnight in a hotel room, but not both. Everything on the trip had cost more than
