It’s not necessarily cut and dry if the car will cut off the cruise control if the tires lose traction, you have to be aware of the car you are driving. But if you are driving a car that is less than 10 years old, chances are good it will kick the cruise off. (My 1990miata will keep the tires at whatever speed it was

Window seat enthusiast”  I like that term.  I’m stealing it.

It’s either a status symbol, or you are hauling something heavy. You really start to appreciate these trucks when you are towing a 5th wheel camper with a recreational doubled boat on the back of the camper.  You get 13-17MPG in these when unloaded and you get only slightly less when fully loaded (unless you drive

Firefighters use an ax to cut open the hood, even if you open it first.

It’s not worth the cost. In the statistic shared, 2014 to 2016 there were 171,500 fires, that’s 58,000 per year. At that time there were 215,000,000 cars on the road, so that works out to ~0.03% of all cars.  Most of those are probably just loss of property, so the expense of adding an on-board extinguishing system

Eh, I would argue with that.  Depends on the circumstances, of course, but 4 inch around is pretty small.  Unless it’s too hot for me to stand next too, I’m emptying whatever extinguisher I have.  Then, moving away and crying...

I just assumed that was part of the price of delivery!

Do the heist in a snow storm and use an older WRX.

DO THE MATH. Figure out how much extra financing will be over the life of the loan. If it costs an extra $1000 over a 36 month loan, that might an acceptable trade off, but regardless, you have to know what you are spending before you decide to spend it.

Insurance and autonomous would likely be no different than public transit.  Do people in areas like NY who use public transit regularly purchase any kind of insurance?  I’ve never heard of a bus rider premium.  So, my guess would be if autonomous cars ever come to full fruition, riders would not need insurance, but

Huh. I figured lifehacker would re-publish articles, not just bump them from the grave. I made this comment 3 years ago!

Yea, we’re old...

My local go kart track has a solution: Drivers get a car on a first come, first served basis.

Push down really hard, twist while pushing down, keep pushing down.  Once turned, slowly release pressure into the overflow bottle.  If, of course, there is SOME reason you need to open the thing before letting it cool...

Hello to you, fellow ULC reverend!

instead of stopping their bids short, based on information Bonhams knows is incorrect?

It’s all about ignitability. When ignition first occurs, the flame kernel is very small, and susceptible to quenching by any relatively cold metal surrounding it. This is the benefit of fine wire spark plugs like Iridium tipped ones, as they use much smaller electrodes to reduce the effect of quenching, thereby

No kidding, I didn’t look through it to find my Fiesta.  I’m really happy with the high beams anyway, lights up a dark rural road well enough.

So, give them a little flash to let them know their brights are on?
