There’s no perfect equation to figure it out.  It’s always a gamble.  Even if you think it’s cheaper to repair than replace, there’s no guarantee that the repair will make your car reliable.  It could.  Or it could be the tip of the iceberg.

I have a MB mechanic friend and a friend that works in service. Both agree that the CLA and the C-class are seen on a regular basis for many issues. E-class is rock solid (at least the pre-2017 model - we bought a used 2016). They regard the GLS in the same terms - very solid SUV. But stay away from the GLC.

Are heated seats one of those 'once you've had them' kind of things? I'm a native, upstate CNYer and never had them.

Ive had a CPO 2009 Audi A4, 2013 GTI, and we now have CPO 2015 Audi S3 and S5. Warranty is great and the car was 40% off. Well worth it...

E-class is probably the most reliable German car out there. Stay away from C-class and don’t even look at the CLA.

Exactly what we did. Sticker was $75k when new. I paid $30k, with CPO warrant and only 20k miles. E-class reliability is pretty high too.

I’ve had it for 2 years and so far 0 issues. I got 2 years of free maintenance as well, but the maintenance visits are $199 on special if you wait (takes a hour and they have a nice lounge). Otherwise they are around $300 which isn’t that bad.
