Clearly the machine is scanning and pattern-matching with things in its memory, which is exactly what we do, only much faster than we do it. Also, the machine continues to do it while we normally stop after a functional (read: close enough) match occurs.

I note with some trepidation that the thing I might consider important or relevant about the scene of Ross making a painting, which is the fucking painting, is almost absent from the computer’s representation of the scene.

So you want some 2D animation? Sure.

To me, hand-drawn animation is art. Stop-motion animation is art. CG animation is tech. I know I know, it still takes artists to design everything, there is still an artistic direction to CG animation, but I’m simply telling how I feel about it. It’s just not the same.

I find myself looking at CG animation the same way…

I like both....I feel there’s room for both. CG movies are fine, but man do I REALLY miss 2D animation. There’s still some good feature stuff coming out of Japan, and I enjoyed Secret of the Kells and Song of the Sea, but I truly long for another 2D Disney movie. I don’t think Princess and the Frog under performed…

it should show the second part in this because it would show that even though we make animation more realistic and pixar - and i love it all - it just doenst have that same feel.
