That whole ‘eating in the kitchen’ thing is for Chef’s you know personally. There is no universal Chef handshake that gets you special treatment everywhere. A Chef should know that. If Alton Brown shows up where I work he gets treated like anybody else; my boy Alex that taught me my first osso bucco on the other hand

Cat Cora seems utterly insufferable.  It’s hard for me to understand how she’s become a “food personality.”  I’m sure she’s a good cook, and she’s an attractive woman, but every time I’ve seen her on cooking shows or competitions, she seems like she’s got an axe to grind.  She wants to prove a point to people that

It always blows my mind when someone has worked in the food service industry, then acts like a complete fucking asshole to restaurant workers. What a dumbass.

I expect that people of any gender that employ PA’s to accept that when you delegate a task to another person that there is always a non-zero chance that said tasks could possible be done wrong and to respond to situations where mistakes are made in a mature and level-headed manner and not throw a conniption fit over

I think you misunderstood me. I am saying that Cora had a right to feel mildly annoyed at the mix-up. But that’s it. Once it was clear that this whole snafu was the result of either an error on the part of the assistant or a misunderstanding between Cora and her assistant, she should have been able to keep it together

This is, in all likelihood, entirely the assistant’s fault for not double checking details. Alinea actually has one of the most intense reservation systems ever, built from scratch by the restaurant investors, so for something this egregious to happen and it is the fault of the restaurant...isn’t likely. Cat sounds

Chefs are generally terrible human beings, and “celebrity chefs” being the worst of that group.

Cora had the right to feel mildly put out at the restaurant

You do not decide you’re going to the best restaurant in the country two days in advance, full stop.

Yeah, at best, Cora had the right to feel mildly put out at the restaurant by otherwise should have kept her cool and then reserved her ire (within reason of course) for the assistant. And maybe learn a valuable lesson about outsourcing menial tasks to an assistant in the first place. Like, it could have taken up

How dare they!?!?!?! She is IRON CHEF CAT CORA!!!!eleven!1

It’s related to the “I’m just asking questions” response where someone says something terrible but frames it as a question to cover themselves.

Cat Cora has had previous behavior that was... odd

My wife and I did not like the way the restaurant handled the mistake they made with our reservation.

EVEN THOUGH I HAD AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION FROM THEM FOR THE RESERVATION

I read Kokonas’s original post, before he redacted some of the emails/other info for privacy concerns, but there are a few people who rightfully point out that Cat Cora’s assistant originally sent an email with the subject that had something along the lines of “Reservation for Saturday” in it. Alinea’s first offered

I guess she will just have to go back to getting her ass handed to her on every single appearance on Iron Chef.

Wow. I will continue to not go to her restaurant in IAH.

Damn she just got dunked on, lol
