My God, I need to see this movie again because I just realized I have been dating different incarnations of Troy for TWENTY YEARS.
My God, I need to see this movie again because I just realized I have been dating different incarnations of Troy for TWENTY YEARS.
I remember when I was younger thinking that the fact that I hated Troy and wanted her to end up with Michael meant I was some sort of boring conformist. I'm pleased that as an adult I can acknowledge it just makes me not-insufferable.
I saw this movie for the first time in high school too and I always thought it was one of those movies that you're supposed to see differently as you get older. At 16 you're supposed to think Troy is amazing, even though it's likely that he was cheating on her with a cocktail waitress in under six months. At 25+ you…
I saw this movie when I was in high school, and although I liked it, I could not understand how people didn't get this! Troy is a narcissist. Michael is a nice person. Troy had zero redeeming qualities.
that morning after we made love
I've never seen this movie (I have no excuse for this) but this Troy guy sounds like the kind of shit boyfriend/hook-up that someone would post about in GroupThink and a bunch of us would try to carefully write sensitive replies with the subtext of "BUT SERIOUSLY, HE IS A DICK AND YOU CAN DO BETTER. OH MY GOD, WHAT…
We were watching ARD Olympic coverage on Sky Germany - you might be able to get some sort of a feed since it's a public broadcaster. Katarina Witt was great - she went into detail about why she thought the judging had been off, etc, and she hit herself on the leg so hard in anger that she had to take deep breaths.…
Are you in Germany, or is there a feed I should have been hacking? That sounds so much better than the American announcers, who just say, "how beautiful" in reverent tones six times per program.
You just blew my mind.
Totally agree with you.
I'm not a Wagner fan. I would have taken Mirai (over Polina, though). But, Wagner was low balled by the judges the whole week. They just don't like her for some reason.
None of these blew you away? It was one of the best nights of women's skating in Olympic history! Some were more technical, some were more artistic, all were amazing in their own rights.
We were watching on German television, and they had Katarina Witt as their moderator. She was so upset at Yuna Kim's silver that she was practically sputtering in anger. And while she was very clear in giving Sotnikova all deserved props, she also stated that in her opinion, Kim had been robbed of the gold.
I think it's the "anonymous" judging — apparently exclusive to figure skating, synchronized skating and ice-dancing — that seems to be the much, much bigger problem here, going all the way back to Salt Lake City for major, news-making controversy, but surely further.
I don't understand enough about the technical elements of skating or the new judging system to properly opine. My biggest complaint is that watching the Olympic evening coverage provides me with absolutely zero assistance in understanding it better. The commentary couldn't be worse if the commentators were blind and…
This is how you know there was a fix.
I love her. She's beautiful and an amazing person.
I just watched this....Isn't she the most beautiful FLOTUSA ever? She's one reason to be proud to be a citizen.
"Ew!" is a carry-over from "Late Night". He also did it with Emma Stone, Lindsay Lohan, and Channing Tatum. It's the BEST.
