From what I read, there was some kind of confirmation dialog. But it is probably the same generic confirmation for every action. And as someone in IT myself, I can tell you that users don’t read those anymore. It’s second nature to just click OK.

As an IT guy who lives and dies by good process, I side with the UX designer ragers.
yeah SHEEPLE wake up! there’s no way a human with the right training could ever make a mistake EVER! It was a deep state conspiracy to disrupt pornhub’s traffic long enough so they could install malware directly into the porn!
Volkswagen used to do that with the Passat. Soak up all the bad equity on a base passat because they were so stupid expensive....but what they don’t realize is how badly that car plummets in value (like the journey) and they’re left on the opposite end with even less equity because they rolled bad equity on to a car…
There’s a mode that lets you turn off hunger and thirst, actually! There’s also one where you can craft everything and not have to do survival stuff at all (though that mode disables the story)
Spoilers: There is a difficulty that removes water and food management!
There’s even a creative mode although i recommend keeping some sense of risk.
This has been lingering on the bottom of my wishlist for quite a while. I wish survival-lite was a thing. I’m not interested in doing food and water gathering bullshit to sustain my digital self, but I would really like to explore and do the crafting on offer here. The game world looks awesome.
I don’t think he actually cares. I may be remembering wrong but I’m pretty sure that a previous article stated that he only jumped on the whole “Flat earth” thing to draw attention to his efforts and that, in fact, he couldn’t give less of a flying shit (pardon the pun) about that particular cause.
In a similar vein, it’s common sense that the President shouldn’t be stonewalled from nominating a god damn Supreme Court justice over a god damn year from the god damn election. God damn it.
The fun part: wait until those lawyers see the mountains of data that the autonomous cars collect showing without a doubt that their client is at fault.
Ah yes, the always helpful “get a different job” tip.
You’re taking a lot of liberties in assessing what did and did not happen in this situation. I wonder if she actually did say this and not the perhaps bullshit that you assume she probably said. In my experience, teachers will often treat young students as if they are completely clueless to anything that their lesson…
I read his manifesto and the whole thing read like: “I don’t know why girls don’t like me. The problem must be them!” over and over again. As a developer he just strikes me as another one of those guys
A thought experiment from smashcompany:
I think they have an RSS feed for whenever someone champions equality.
It’s a seemingly honest and clever claim. And you see it all the time about race or gender. “Diversity is great but we want the best minds!”
Is this site always this full of bitter misogynists who are so threatened by women?
Slyly done. Imply that a female scientist would be less of a bonafide expert than a male scientist. How clever. Making the subtextual assertion that only men can report facts.
The situation wouldn’t have existed if the police were trained to fire only after being fired upon, rather than to fire if they feel “scared.” There is no reason that we should be making any excuses for the officer that killed an unarmed man. Not even “Well, it was a false call.” The police should be held to a higher…
As do I.
The officer involved should also face review and potential charges, given the situation on the ground—but the folks who precipitated the situation need to eat the heavy end of the hammer.
