i think the earwolf podcast network is a pretty good example of the oversaturation odenkirk is talking about. a podcast for every comedian to have every other comedian to come on to talk about their podcast!
some shows just play better as synopses. for example i never could watch a whole episode of true blood, but i found myself obsessed with fan reviews for the entirety of its run. ditto the last 4 seasons of dexter.

cranky british critic mark kermode did the math on this and it amounts to approx 3 seconds of screen time per word of book, so he thinks jackson could probably stand to stretch it out a little more if he was really trying.
