Is "We Need to Talk" in that batch? Because "We Need to Talk" is the best episode this show has ever done.

Which game is that from? (Haven't played any since Wind Waker.)

But Steven and everyone else in the cast call Lion "him" or "he?" Which pretty clearly implies to me that there are certain parts of his anatomy present, but that the Crewniverse have happily decided don't need to be rendered for this children's cartoon.

Would be kind of weird for the remaining Rose energy to form into a male lion though, wouldn't it?

Which I think is somewhat rectified if it's not Steven whose physically as strong as Rose, but Steven in fusion with his friends and loved ones. Stevonnie being so powerful works because they are a representation of Steven's ability to truly connect with Connie. Steven as a whole is 'stronger' than Rose because of the

She's talking to Steven.

I want a Connie and Sadie episode so goddamn bad. They're both kinda nerdy, reclusive types - Sadie can give Connie some life lessons about growing older, Connie can boost Sadie's confidence so that she'll like/respect herself a bit more. It would be good for both of them.

Cartoons are wild. I actually think one of the PPGs breaking off a monster's tooth, then shoving that tooth into its eye (accompanied by a big gush of green fluid) might have been the most violent thing I ever saw on TV or movies until I got into anime.

Are you allowed to link to spoilers on here? Cause I am curious and have no self-control.

Remember in the episode that introduced them, how Garnet grabbed one of the giant hand-spider gem mutants in both hands, gripped it by the skin on the palm, and then RIPPED IT IN HALF to poof it? This show is not kind to its corrupted gems in a very Powerpuff Girls (violence is totally okay as long as its against

You should have had a male friend follow sadly behind you with a boom box, blaring Ben Fold's "Brick" on repeat at top volume.

There's also the fact that he's the one searching for car wash brushes to buy on the internet, which would be a weird task for him to have if he didn't have a more directly managerial role in things.

To be honest, I think it undersells the show to bring up its intended audience in a conversation like this. Because that has never once stopped it before. And this is a show that has horrifying gem mutants that also are kinda rape victims?

For sure! It's a really, really interesting dynamic. Which is why I would have liked to see just a few small tweaks to make it really dazzle.

Like I said - it's just the dialogue that bothered me, not the sentiment.

Well, he does live in a van and shower in a car wash.

Be clear, sure. This show is often clear with its messages. But what it doesn't often do is sacrifice the character's voices to do so.

That is possible, I guess. Part of what makes it rings really false, I think, is that Jasper only shows up in the last three minutes. So we only have a dim idea of where her headspace is at. So when the very little dialogue that she has feels so at odds with itself and clunky, it weighs a lot more. More material might

It really sunk for me with the "I've changed. You've changed me" line. Way too on the nose. Eric brings it up in his review, but it really did detract from the overall picture from me. Which is unfortunate, because I thought up until that point - especially with the "I'm a brute, but you're a monster" line - it was

Man, I dunno guys. I felt like some of the clunky dialogue really lowered this one in my opinion. I gotta ruminate on it.
