The article does have good points one being that most Asian women are pigeonholed into one or two categories. You are mostly judged on what a good wife/mother you can be since birth - even though you may excel at your studies or career but that is in essence seen as a "hobby" until you get married.

I think she's absolutely gorgeous and would love to look like that especially her hair and face. Such a classical beauty.

@100flowers: Exactly. You can see the similarities between the dances in Malaysia, Thailand, other south east asian countries and even all the way through the Pacific Islands.

@HilliardTortoise: Sharia law dictates it be no thicker than the little finger and the cane cannot be lifted so high the arm is away from the armpit. The court ordered the jail's female governor administer the sentence.

Even though this post will be hidden as I'm not a star commenter. I'd like the picture removed. Everyone is jumping to the conclusion that the picture is the ACTUAL caning when it has not been done yet.

@nora charles: She's Malaysian married to a Singaporean but the defining factor is that she is a Muslim and so must be judged by the Sharia law

@Jen82: You are in a sense not 'allowed' to convert out. They make it difficult. Once a Muslim always a Muslim.

@FlorenceDugdale: Caning is done in Malaysia (and Singapore) for civil offenses especially sexual assault.

@amowls: This is such a ridiculous statement. Targeting luxury cars for no reason? If you flout the traffic laws yes but if you don't then they don't randomly stop cars on busy streets of KL for handouts.

@Laulau: You can't denounce or convert to another religion. Technically you can but they make it extremely difficult that it's impossible. There's was a recent-ish case about a woman Lina Teoh that wanted to do such a thing and is still muddled up in red tape.

@ChristieLove: I'm quite mad about the discrepancy between the women's prize money versus men. The gap has diminished in recent years but it's nowhere near men's sport.

This doesn't take into account cultural differences. For example in an Asian society where first-born sons are revered absolutely and get away with murder so to speak - no curfew, everything they touch turns to gold etc.

@ayaka: Oops didn't read the comments first - someone mentioned it up there.

Wow that's so Christopher Pike, RL Stine and other such YA thriller-horror-romance-whatever books from the 90s. Awesome.

I'd love to cosplay since it's in touch with my inner sci-fi geekdom in general but think I'm far too old and it would seem quite sad by then. Sigh. Why wasn't I cooler when I was younger?

I've been reading some Cary Tennis lately and find his advice insufferable. Usually I read the letter, then skip his advice and head to the comments.

@jobsworth: Exactly my reason too and I love to swim. Maybe I've watched too many shark,croc,mutant-animal-in-water movies.

@marshmallory: That's what annoyed me - and the fibroid juice. I have endometriosis. It's a disease. If he's talking cells then yeah perhaps "endometrial cells" could fly.
