1997 was a losing year for the GOP. It was when they were downtrodden. They were supposed to be extinct by now, but then came 9/11 in 2001 which invoked a false sense of fear and patriotism in the U.S. The GOP was reborn.

I’m an artist and even though I am not confined by deadlines or competition, I do feel the need to get things done as soon as possible. Holidays, vacations and weekends are my best times to get significant work done.

I was referring more to creative endeavors. Artists, composers, developers, etc. Although competition does not generally factor, it can still be applied. The sooner you release a new concept/creation, the sooner you beat someone else to it. This could also be applicable for technology innovations as well.
