But they are not as comfortable and refined as the ordinary BMWs of the SAME generation, which I find to generally have perfectly judged suspension for driving on real world roads. And even the slowest BMW made today is fast enough to get your license evaporated in a nanosecond. And then you add in the upfront cost

Hahahaha, WTF, I don’t know how, but Frankly that looks better than Stephenson’s vision.

What you said was “redesign.” What you meant was “ruined.”

Agreed - to be honest I’m very surprised that Porsche has beaten Tesla with the silly fake noises. That’s the kind of irreverent stuff that Tesla does really well. However, it’s also the kind of stuff that free OTA software updates are made for.

Honestly, just bought a Golf R, and while I know the Soundaktor is just piped noise into the cabin, I absolutely love it.  I get some cheap laughs and the neighbours get to sleep in. Everyone wins.

They’re currently using AC synchronous, permanent magnet from Valeo-Siemens.

They still need to un-fuck the front end of the MK8.

As a general rule: fuck dealers.

Some people might dog Bradley’s writing ability or say he’s not a “real” journalist. But I say anyone who can take an article about test driving a 700HP hell on wheels mega truck and turn it into a total bummer must have some real skill.

The Cybertruck makes the Cybertruck look like an angular silver turd.

I say this as a dyed-in-the-wool environmentalist: at some point, we need to get people who don’t give a shit about the environment to also buy EVs. We need to get everyone (or at least most people) driving vehicles that aren’t powered by fossil fuels if we are to have a hope of preserving at least some of the Earth’s

Manuals on my sports cars. There is no excuse to not get one. Lets face it, basically none of you track your cars (5% maybe) regularly enough to really take advantage of a DSG because it is “faster bruh.” Sports cars are all about the feel, the connection to the car. That means manual. My Alfa Romeo has a manual, my

Gridlock traffic sucks regardless of your transmission.  Automatics suck regardless of traffic.

Of course it’s a business decision. And it saves me lots of money, because I won’t buy their products.

Preach! Even at the low end, this has killed the clutch pedal. Consider the lowly, but adored-by-the-press Kia Soul. You can get a manual in it, but only the absolute stripper model, only in black, grey, or white, and you can’t get even get cruise control. Just blank buttons on the steering wheel shaming you. you

Some of this is a result of bare parts bins. Until quite recently, manuals were common in economy cars in most of the world. That meant that most manufacturers have a manual transmission in the parts bin. But those economy car manuals typically have limited torque handling capabilities.

Would people pay extra for it?

My frustration is that nearly all manufacturers missed the transition from “manuals are for cheap loser cars only” to “enthusiasts with disposable income want manuals in their enthusiast cars.”

I’m not really shook up when stick shifts disappear from commuter grade appliances like the Accord (to name a recent example). Their traditional advantages in cars like that (cheaper up front, better gas mileage, faster acceleration) aren’t really true anymore. Yeah, they’re more fun to drive, but comparatively
