They are an independent subsidiary of Geely Holding; they are publicly traded and Geely owns most of the shares. Geely attempted to absorb them wholly but, though the story is all behind closed doors, I think the Swedish government stopped that from happening.

If Acura doesn’t want people to be disappointed with their offering, then they shouldn’t have named it an Integra and they shouldn’t be relying on advertising that focuses on everything that this new car is not going to be. Nobody is upset that the car is based on the Civic, everybody who is upset is upset because

That’s sort of the problem, on two fronts:

Stormtroopers? They are lucky there aren’t many trees in the desert.

It’s almost like you didn’t read everything else in that post leading up to the last sentence...

Western automakers sure did slit their own throats on that one! Just like the rest of Western-dominated industries! News at 7.

No. Bad. Every other car on the road gets perpetually larger every generation. Let us have this one car that stays small.

How about a previous generation 2-series or a current generation Audi TT?

Honey, I regret it almost every time I have to drop money on Amazon.

It’s an Audi A5 (or S5) Sportback. Not seeing box flares, so I don’t think it’s the RS5.

Contrary to popular belief, Volkswagen architectures are not platforms, but an interchangeable collection of stuff that can be combined to purpose. CMA, despite what the “M” stands for in that acronym, is more of a traditional platform and it is much less flexible than MQB on account of it being designed specifically

Testarossas are actually very forgiving and were designed primarily as GT cars rather than sports cars.

I struggle to come up with alternatives for the 718, though. The F-Type? Does the Polestar 1 still count? The 718 is quite attractive with the right options checked and sets a high bar to clear, IMHO.

I’d buy one of these, but it’ll probably cost six figures and thus I’m excluded.

The 2 is sitting on the CMA architecture, which is the same bones originally used for the XC40. The XC40 is...wait for it...a CUV.

But which V8 will you pair it with? A Hispano-Suiza of slightly earlier vintage?

Disagree. The mission of the TT is to be a design and technology tour de force, a mission it accomplishes incredibly well. The only thing wrong with the TT is that they are not going to create a Mk. 4 to stuff the new RS3's torque-vectoring diff into.

Swan-song for the 718 before they turn the next gen into an electric porker, and it is a beautiful thing.

Agreed. They gave us the GTS 4.0 and standard GT4 with a stick, so I’m not hard up about the RS being PDK-only.

Oh, you absolutely know BMW will try to cash in on the brand equity of the “M1" nameplate sooner or later. Probably just as the last set of people who even remember the original hit retirement, because after that it’s worthless.
