How good have you been about pinching your pennies? The Taycan Gran Turismo is right around the bend.

Everybody and their dog are buying trucks and SUVs. That makes them common and therefore uncool. They also lament sports cars not being ever taken out to the track but, because sports cars are in the minority and compromisingly uncompromising in their purpose, they are still cool. If it’s old or old school, extra cool.

Sports cars are not track cars. Common misconception. Sports cars are about being fun to drive, track cars are about performance. The latter is where you will find those punishing set-ups.

Maybe the really old ones, and even then that was actually the single-clutch semi-automatic transmissions that became popular as we transitioned from manuals to high-end automatics for exotics which rendered a herky jerky ride. Ferrari’s F1 transmission, BMW’s SMG, whatever the hell Lamborghini was using...

New Z would be redundant with the Corvette. :p

The tragic thing about the GR Corolla will be that its sales are unlikely to be any better than a GR Yaris would have been, meaning we’ll have received the worse version of GR hatch for no reason at all.

There is a new 2-series coupe in the works, and there will certainly be an M version and it will almost certainly come with a manual option.

They’re not as engaging to drive

It’s in the name!

I would almost kill to get the current generation S5 with a stick. It’s criminal that the only transmission is a softly tuned ZF8.

Which one? Now that I can afford more new car than I could last time I was in the market, there are none to be had. The recently deceased F20 4-series was right up my alley with AWD and a 6-speed and not being a damn hatchback, but now my only option for similar is a WRX.

The special-factor is all related to the engine and looks. Not how it handles, which come down to “bolt-ons”. The best thing they did for the Mach 1 was replace that crap manual from the standard GT with the one from the GT350.

I am sorry I have more clarity of vision than most. What sells a GT350 is not merely its performance, and I have to roll my eyes hard whenever somebody trots out that the special thing being axed is being replaced with a comparable performing un-special option aND thus the loss is minimal. Even if that somebody does

ZR-1 had reliability issues, too, just not because of the engine. :p

It looks more milquetoast than its predecessor so far and the specs are nearly as bland.

You might be surprised to find that Volvo fans share a lot with Musk Worshippers. The only difference is that Tesla buyers have a slightly more worthwhile product for their devotion.

The people who want a performance car at all already know what an RS badge signifies, and the ones who don’t want a performance car don’t care or matter.

An RS badge would have sufficed for that task.

Nah, it won’t rev or sound the same and that is all the difference. The Voodoo Mustang GT350 is the LT5 C4 ZR-1 of our time.

Nah, just Mustang fans. The Camaro has a more appropriate interior layout for the tasks of emoting and driving...but you can’t see out of it and the exterior is hideous so that’s two dings versus the one on the Mustang.
