I will say this: when Jimmy Carter goes, one-termer or not, I will want all of this pageantry. Because he had a rare willingness to point out that America needed to be about more than consumerism; because he was secure enough in his own Christianity to not feel the need to embrace the religion’s most hateful outliers;

Millennials on Twitter:

These Republicans fell victim to one of the classic blunders: Never get involved in a land flame war in Asia with a Millenial.

The kind of people that have “full time availability” for a unpaid internship should be kept as FAR AWAY from government as possible, aka; every single little twerp in that lede image.

People are being willfully ignorant about this song at this point. The historical context has been explained ad nauseum re: the woman wanting to stay but being unable to say so explicitly due to social norms at the time and the man trying to give her reasons to stay so as to provide her with cover. And the line

He also was found liable of using excessive force himself 8 years ago:

The man was a 22-year-old veteran cop

“Hee Haw” was a staple on Armed Forces television back in the day. I grew up on bases all over the world, but the one constant was there’d be pickin’ & grinnin’ on the teevee, seemingly whenever you turned it on. It was inescapable. I guess it must have been cheap for the military to buy.

I still think police and politicians should face multipliers on their convictions, because they are in positions of power and we have no choice but to trust them. So if a crime normally carriers a 5 years sentence for a normal, powerless citizen, for a police officer or politician, it should get multiplied by 2.

Am I the only one kind of disgusted that Nicki is using women as furniture?

I will say it over and over:

The Brie Larson/Clash at Demonhead version of Black Sheep is better than Metric’s version and I hate that it wasn’t put on the soundtrack and I had to go find an MP3 someone stitched together from the movie + soundtrack version. It’s so fuckin’ good, you guys.

Great, great point about the music. I had forgotten just how badass those band scenes were, Wright and company (with Beck contributing a lot of songwriting) forsake boring “realism” to show the energy of what a great show feels like. ONE TWO THREE FOUR

There was a lot of negativity around this movie in the last comments section. Things seem more positive here but I’m not interested in debating or writing an essay about why I think this movie is good. What I will say is that this movie probably changed my life. Particularly with the Clash at Demonhead concert scene,

Also can we talk about what’s happening with Trump’s ex-tax attoney in Chicago? Because if I was His Orangeness, I’d stay on that plane until it lands in Moscow.

“Baby, it’s a bad time. Mueller’s breathing down my neck, they’re raiding all my friends... I just can’t do it right now. You know I still love you though. When this all blows over I promise you can annex Moldovia and I’ll sneak you through the back for a weekend at Mar-a-Lago.”

Mueller sent a message. That message is “you’re goddamn right I will lock you up for lying to Congress.”

We don’t claim to own them, but it would certainly be nice if conservatives would visit once in a while. Truth, justice, and compassion haven’t seen you in many years. They miss you.

To be clear, the police department had access to this video for more than a year.

This is what bothers me about this kind thing — by FRAMING someone else, you are aiding and abetting the ACTUAL criminal, which should make you legally complicit in the act, an accomplice after the fact. Which *should* mean people who do that sort of thing get to go to prison for the crime they’re helping cover up.
