I hate that awkward phase in a relationship when you don't know if you should celebrate the holidays together or bring them to family gatherings. Thankfully my sister's date set a fire at Christmas dinner, so anyone I would bring looks fantastic now.

I felt the variety-yearning rumblings in my own two year relationship brewing up around Thanksgiving!

Wai.. wai... wai... wait. Michael Fassbender is still alive, right?

I submit for your approval, Taye Diggs.

OH and how could I forget...

Cary Elwes (actor. Westley!):

I've said it once and I will say it again until every single one of you man loving Jezzies out there agrees with me.

Give me JGL any day.

Exactly. The "mistake" is that the dog whistle was too obvious. Because in context (every public figure's favorite excuse when they say something shitty), that quote actually becomes even more disturbing and unequivocally racist.

He means "racist" as in, belonging to the KKK. If you are not setting fire to black people or hanging them from trees, you are not racist.

As I mentioned in another thread - we don't get to tell Ms. McCray what her sexual orientation is, lest we fall into the same category as the Westboro Baptist Church, who has no qualms about deciding everyone's sexual orientation for them. It's no better when we do it than when they do it.

How many times do they have to tell you 'I'm not racist but...' before you get that they're not racist but they just don't like black folk all that much.

Nobody gets to tell anyone else how to identify. That's why it's called identification—it's something a person chooses for themselves. There's a lot of politics and emotional baggage tied up with labels, especially in the queer community. Policing people about how they identify only increases the stress and baggage.

Oooh... Don't let whatever system you've worked out in your head override other people's identities. First of all, your terminology is not fixed just because it makes a degree of logical sense; there are plenty of other logical systems out there and they are no worse or better than yours. Second of all sexuality (and…

Actually she did identify as a lesbian until she met Bill. In the 90s she wrote about her identity in a few publications. You can look them up with a quick google.

Wasn't Richard Cohen musing just the other day that he thought until fairly recently that slavery was this very benign experience for slaves? Oh, yes, it was.

I've seen him several times before with Kingsized at Trader Vic's. They used to play there on Thursday nights, not sure if they still do. And yeah, he's massive.

Nope, he's 6'8". I saw this a week or so ago and thought it was the coolest. This is just one of his acts. He has a regular band as well and also creates music for some Cartoon Network shows among others. I wrote him on his Facebook page and he got back to me right away, signing off with "Keep weepin..." Love Puddles!

Now playing

This is Big Mike Geier, a fixture in Atlanta. He also heads up the band Kingsized.

I want the Puddles Pity Party band to play my my wedding.
