Not even a mention for what the animation actually is?

Did... did you just say this is worse than actually flipping the bird... I can’t with you. How can I blacklist your shitty “articles”?

Would be nice if people would take the tact of sensitivity by understanding CONTEXT and the culture of others instead of trying to homogenize the world into their own myopic vision of what is suitable and what is not.

This just proves people can be offended by just about anything.

“cause you have the time and want a fun experience?”

The problem is that in terms of actual coverage (and costs) the North East corridor is kind of the exception.

The continental US is also about 20x larger than Japan, so trains aren’t as practical a mode of conveyance.

And SOOO much graffiti. I mean it’s literally endless.

Considering what people put up with for “low” air fares, I doubt it would have a chance even if train travel was more common.

Roads and bridges are used daily by the mass majority of Americans. I’m sure there are some dirt eaters out there who never need to use a paved road or cross a river, but there are also those who still shit in an outhouse and married their sister too. Good for them.

Chicken/egg...I think more people would take trains in the US if trains in the US weren’t f*cking terrible.

As someone who has taken Amtrak from Chicago to LA, Im here to tell you that no matter how nice the trains, food and hospitality may be, taking a train long distances in the US sucks—irretrievably.

How much is the average American taxpayer funneling towards roads and bridges again? Just last October Congress transferred $100,000,000 worth of income tax dollars just to prop it up....

But roadtrips usually don’t cost $10,000+, that’s part of the allure of a road trip.

Oh it could work here regardless. Except you’d pay for it through the tax dollars Amtrak steals to support it’s failed industry. Sorta like how you’re paying for your neighbors Tahoe.

I mentioned neither “liberal” outrage nor political correctness in my comment. My point, that the internet functions rather well as an echo chamber for our own personal narratives, seems to apply universally.

In any case... your comment may illustrate why it isn’t fruitful (or even honest) to generalize about

“Conservative concoctions meant to attack those who dare criticize them, while casting themselves as the victims.”

I think this is worth posting again:

I empathize with the spirit of the article but some small voice in my head parroted the title back as, “someone, somewhere on the internet said something” and I cringed. There is never any shortage of people looking to be outraged about something... and this is pretty low hanging fruit.

So, this is potentially good news for any Ferrari owners who want to try and confirm if their mileage is actually what it says on the dashboard.
