Nobody said anything about criminalization did they? I certainly didn't.

I said that people are born that way, not that there's a gay gene. You probably haven't read the latest research. Here: http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.1086…
Well Italians don't face the same level of discrimination, so maybe that's the reason it's still sensitive. Further, the term "gay" hasn't really been dissociated from homosexuality. It evolved as an insult relatively recently (like within the last decade) and it's still highly connected to the other meaning IMO.
Really? Step back and think about what you wrote.
Of course everything you say is true, but you must have a far more optimistic view of our current culture if you think the word "gay" used as an insult has become dissociated from homosexuality in contemporary usage. Maybe a little. But not a lot.
I love when people complain about political correctness. What is political correctness? It's an attempt to avoid language that subtly reinforces oppression. It's cool that you find that "repugnant" instead of finding, say, bigotry repugnant. Speaks well to your character.
Uh, the word you're looking for is homophobic. Other than that, I'm not sure what your point is.
If they were just a search engine attempting to efficiently link people to what they're searching for, they wouldn't filter results like they already do.
They probably will end up manually tweaking it.
It's not whiny to point out bigotry. And since the author is well aware that it results from an algorithm, it's not "thick" either. But it is unfortunate, which is why he bothered to write about it. You get that, right? Or are you "thick"?
So I assume using sexist and racist language isn't wrong either, because it's simply part of the vernacular? It's just how language works, right? This is a really lazy and shallow line of reasoning.
People are diverse and derive meaning from all sorts of different sources. For example, I live for love, humor, music, friendship, learning, helping others, striving to make the world a better place, appreciating the wonders of nature and feeling awe at the universe. Others might draw meaning from belief in a divine…
How can God be a first cause? If such a being existed, it would have come from somewhere. Not sure how that solved any unanswered questions about the nature of existence. Seems like just another instance of sweeping unanswerable questions under the rug.
I agree, but the huge boost in storage and these interesting editing options means that I might just take a look at it. And I think others will too.
I thought that too, at first. But take a look at southern California, home to roughly 20 million people. It barely registers as a blip on the map. Actually, most west coast cities are noticeably underrepresented.
Intriguing!!
Yeah but that's for PCs. Apple laptops (and even desktops) retain good resale value for much longer than three years.
Agreed. I feel like Evil Elena was only interesting at the moment where she finally turned her humanity switch back on – we finally got to see what makes her Elena, as opposed to Katherine. Watching her take on a psychotic Katherinesque persona was just boring, because we already have one of those.
Last night's episode was the first time I've enjoyed Vampire Diaries in quite a while. It helped that there were some legitimately creepy scenes with Silas. It just shows how desperately this show has needed a legitimate Big Bad.
But if he's been exiled from Krypton for being "an abomination" then he can't exactly go back whenever he wants, right? And presumably Zod wants to find him for nefarious purposes, not to kindly escort him home. So at this point I don't feel like this change is a dealbreaker. In fact it might even add some interesting…
