So it's basically the diesel-electric hybrid that locomotives have been using for years?

I say nice price, because I've never seen anything like this, and the crazy is definitely up to 11. Just a few.. thousand... more dollars and imagine what you could have.
What they really need to do is market their cars to masochistic shadetree mechanics; that's the perfect target audience.
Can't be a BMW - the styling is too organic, very little (easily breakable) technology, no badge stating how many hoofs do the work, cloth apointments, wayyyy to light.
It's a nice price that I'd never pay. It's like a 2009 Corolla for $8k - nice price, for someone else.
This isn't art. Artists love the environment and social commentary. Really awesome things like fire and destruction belong in the realm of blockbusters. Wait a minute... Superflex is really Michael Bay!
It's borderline nice or crack, I think there are much better oil burning benzes for similar prices. I have a 70 220d with a manual that I got for $2500. It's way better looking and you get to row your own. The only negative is 57 hp, definitely teaches you patience.
I think it's awesome so many people's first thought was "but, they'll scratch the car!"
Besides not having to mow the lawn, this is the best reason I've ever seen to have kids.
The sad part is: even if I could get a salvage title for that, I'd still have to sell my house.
See that's the problem with being funny. The kind of people who don't get it are the kind of people who call and complain.
@FBJ: Now I'm actually very interested to hear the result of this test.
Seriously? Car guys and gals focusing on style? I could see maybe, "That black surround on the tail light detracts from the back end" or "exposed carbon is a bit too ricer-boy for me." But complaining about jeans and a pair of shoes? This is like Gawker commenters debating the merits of vaccuum bagged carbon vs.…
I saw one of these on the street yesterday and my response was not the sought-after "wow, what was that!?" but rather, "That's.... unfortunate." Crack.
Last time I was in NYC people were crossing the street and an impatient lady in a Lexus tried to push her way through to make the right on red. A nice gentleman corrected her error by kicking in her grill.
It appears Dali designed a body kit while afflicted with a concussion and elephant tranquilizers.
It's nice to see now that Bangle has left the nest, the design language has gotten out of its awkward teenage years and blossomed into something you'd want to take home.
@01NB: I totally agree that the phasing out of the manual is almost a sure thing for most cars.
Considering the pedestrian collision rules that had to be conformed to, it looks very nice. I really like the gauges. The tail lights are nice, but the rest of the trunk doesn't do it for me.
@Ash78: You win.
