Evangelicals and are pushing the idea that the pill is an early abortion. The conservative wing of Catholicism came up with that idea and it has bled over to the protestant side in the last couple of years.

There is good dramatic potential in that and also the idea of the an (out) gay male country star. Zero potential for Peggy's character exists.

So true! I had a best friend for 20 years and he came out to me and a couple of friends in high school. He came out his freshmen year of college to everyone else and most people, including his parents, accepted him with relatively little drama. I see it as more that they are half trying to do that and half trying to make a Whedon-y, more adult oriented show and that is one of the reasons why it doesn't work.

Is there any sense that the showrunners are hearing the disappointed/annoyed reactions from the intended audience of this show? Any hope that they will respond to our disdain and change the show?

I couldn't place my finger on its appeal for me until it came to me in a flash that OUAT has the same draw for me that Hercules/Xena had back in the day:corny premise, bad costumes, cheeseball acting, soap operaesque twists, simplistic "lessons" learned by the characters, terrible effects….. I enjoy it but I'll never
