"Statistics or not" is really fucking easy for you to say when your life isn't the one on the line. And beyond the fact that if it was really the "safer" option, it wouldn't be the most common point for an abused woman to murdered, believing that authorities will swoop in and save the day in cases of domestic violence…
Not to mention how domestic violence is largely ignored by local officials, allowing abusers to stay out of jail (or be released quickly) so they can do more damage to their victims. I'm not sure if this guy had a history of arrests related to violence (domestic or not), but there are so many cases of murdered women…
There is as statistic somewhere that shows risk of violence and death increases when women leave their abuser. Some women stay because it's the safest thing for them to do.
There are some kind-hearted humans out there.
It's easy to say you'd do the right thing. It's another thing to be tested.
I think the two boys were in the truck, with the father pushing it, when the drunk crashed into it. As the father of two boys... I would have acquitted the father even if he'd confessed and they had him on video. NOT because I'm a supporter of vigilante justice, but I can imagine losing my mind and killing my sons…
Are you trying to make a "black people shoot black people all the time" point? That has nothing to do with this situation at all.
I just feel like this whole country is trolling me now. Unarmed black men beaten and killed in the streets and hundreds of racists donate money to the white cop perpetrator while also posting insanely racist messages, meanwhile white folks carry around assault rifles while they're shopping at WalMart completely…
Public servant. Public information. It would be no different if he had simply identified himself, as all officers are mandated to do upon civil request. He is accountable for his actions.
If he had any sense, he would point his gun at the real threat: diabetes.
So instead of finding ways to get her resources for caring for her children, they... strip her of more resources by throwing her in jail? This makes sense.
