They did a funny take on that stuff in the second season of Extras, with Chris Martin from Coldplay being stunt-cast on the show within the show.

The "previously" with the beheadings (for ep 4.1) was kind of like flashing "NED STARK'S BIG-ASS SWORD" on the screen when Tywin melts it down, as the cold open has no dialogue, and we hadn't seen Ice in a long time.

Magically endowed? Like Jaqen wasn't hot enough already! Some dudes have all the luck.

OK, anybody else raise one or more eyebrows at seeing Catelyn's throat slit in the "previously" segment? (I know, it was just to parallel Arya killing Walder…)

Yeah, that was weird… More of our modern perspective seeping into the show's quasi-medieval frame. Someone who's Arya's age by this point would not be considered a "little girl", any more than teenage boys would be thought too young to be soldiers.

I felt that way too, at least somewhat… But I remember feeling the same about a lot of dialogue in ep 4.1 (when Jaime was back in KL), and perhaps ep 2.1 as well (with other characters), and in both cases the seasons went on to have many marvelous scenes with better writing.

The series premiere had one, as did Ep 4.1 with the magnificent wordless scene of Tywin melting down Ned's sword and tossing the great wolf pelt on the fire.

Hmmmm… Argus Filch… Almira Gulch… Whoa! COINCIDENCE?

I didn't know it was possible, but The Hound's hatred of hipsters now makes me love him even more.
