Garry Shandling is my favorite awards-show host (though he never did the Oscars); I wish he'd done more of them. Of course, he's not really straddling that line you describe, like Martin and Crystal (and Ellen DeGeneres, who's another affable choice), but I love his style and always felt he fits well into the host

I love Reginald VelJohnson as much as the next guy, I really do… But the opportunity was missed to create an all-Myra version of the show. I mean, Jesus Christ Almighty, just look at her.

Dame Judi Dench is still reeling from that year she was up for a Golden Globe against Jennifer Love Hewitt.

His favourite mythical creature must be the "Yiti"!

I hope one of the movies wasn't Grand Canyon.

I was surprised when the girls at camp tease Rebecca by calling her "Cabbage Patch"… Amy Schumer has often likened herself to the doll in her stand-up act, but while she sort of resembles it, Rachel Bloom doesn't at all. Bloom and Schumer both star in shows they created, and have similarities in their style of

I, too, examined the pole-dancing scene very closely. And replayed the DVR recording multiple times. And am still thinking about it now.

Also, this bit wasn't as funny as her "time travel" appearance in December with the two Hillarys.

Yeah, sadly Palin doesn't have that sweet campaign money to spend on clothes anymore.

Nobody noticed? I guess the various award committees didn't notice (because she's had several nominations which much more deserving actors on GOT did not), but many fans have definitely noticed her dead-eyed staring which is the very opposite of strong acting. I re-watched the Sopranos again recently, and was

Many good movies have had bad trailers, which I assume jeopardizes the film's chance to maximize its audience. Also, personally I tend to reject just about every action film immediately, based on their (almost) universally stupid, repetitive trailers… because Sweet Lord Almighty, how many fucking end-of-the-world /

This works better than poor Nancy Marchand's reanimation in Proshai Livushka…

I think the problem the SNL folks had with her is that she was nothing but political opinions and an attitude of being offended by everything. Yes, a show like that can be an old boys' club, and maybe not very welcoming of feminist ideas, which is bad; but aside from her legitimate criticism, I can see how she may

legal wrangling was too nuanced and confusing relative to the Law & Orders of the world

It moved to some channel on DirectTV for the 4th and 5th seasons. This is a show I never watched, but always wanted to go back and see — the cast is really superb, including people like Ted Danson and Martin Short whom I really love seeing in non-comedic roles. Maybe this year I'll finally binge-watch it.

Cougar Town was fun, and Cox is still a strong comic actress. I'll definitely check out the new show, on the standard-def channel and sitting well back.

In some ways, ER was a Hospital Drama dealing with Serious Issues, but it was also the greatest primetime soap opera ever created. Without any of the glamour typically associated with that genre — the cast was certainly attractive but also down to earth, playing real, believable characters, and Clooney fit perfectly

Banacek! (Banacek? … Banacek.)
