The books are pretty racist. Fleming says that Korean eat cats and are lower than apes in Goldfinger. At one point in Dr No Bond identifies a secretary as an enemy agent solely because she is "a Chinese." Then there's that "jegro" joke in Live and Let Die ….

"I thought it was a valid question, I wasn't making fun or insulting anyone, I still wanna know!"

So you live in a universe where Edith Bunker never got almost-raped, Rhoda never got divorced, and Alex Keaton's friend didn't die.

Wait, what? It absolutely has been. He used to have a house band, and a bandleader he would banter with, and he would do a monologue, and audience participation bits and sketches, and then he would interview a guest and close with a live musical act. Even after he ditched the studio and took the show on the road,

Emily Thorne's a scientist.

It's amazing how many things that aren't true most people don't know.

The character was listed in the credits as Jack Kilpatrick (co-host of Point/Counterpoint at the time), and was clearly meant to be Jack Kilpatrick. (The same actor, William Tregoe, also spoofed Kilpatrick in Kentucky Fried Movie, but they had to give him a different name in that one.)

"Burt Lancaster is objectively a terrible actor anywhere"

Annie Parisse is an enormously talented actress, and in fact was let go due to her supposed lack of sex appeal (though I thought she was fine in that regard, not that anyone cares).

He kind of did, after limiting himself by refusing to film after sundown on Fridays.

Let's not forget Captain Cragen.

He also showed up early on Buffy and was a regular for the entire first season of 24.

That reminds me of Shaw on Person of Interest: highly accomplished surgeon to CIA hitwoman.

Don't trust John Lithgow—he was a serial killer in Miami!

I'm assuming Megan Boone from The Blacklist.

If that's the episode I'm thinking off — with Paula Malcomson and Jeff Fahey — it's the best of the series. Malcomson's [SPOILER] confession monologue was absolutely chilling.

Malcolm Tucker [SPOILER] was also brought down by knowledge of confidential medical records. Iannucci really likes that trope.

Now that's how you neg someone.

Seriously, guys? Not one mention of 49th Parallel???

@avclub-b9a25e422ba96f7572089a00b838c3f8:disqus is correct. Monk had a case every week, and it was definitely not a procedural.
