I knew there was something suspicious about her, and I figured it had to be from one of her previous roles. Yup, The Following. I've blocked that show from my conscious memory but subconsciously I've tagged her as sneaky and dangerous.

I'd say Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Forrest Gump are the only effects-heavy movies I can think of that aim for "seamless disbelief," and they stand out as unusual for that reason. All the other movies you mention are 100% screaming, "LOOK AT OUR EFFECTS!!"

Way to bring together my two childhood heroes.

It's pretty trippy to watch the old WW2 flick Hell Is for Heroes … a straightforward war movie with a downer ending, except in the middle it takes a break for a Bob Newhart one-sided phone conversation.

Ambiguity/confusion over where the story takes place is itself a canonical reference (c.f. "The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter"), haha.
